چکیده
In this paper, time extension methods, originally designed for clear-sky land surface conditions, are used to estimate high-spatial resolution daily longwave (LW) radiation from the instantaneous Global LAnd Surface Satellite (GLASS) product. The performance of four methods were first tested by using ground based flux measurements that collected 141 global sites. Combined with accuracy LW estimated GLASS radiation, linear sine interpolation method performs better than other and was employed as follows: bias/Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) −6.30/15.10 W/m2 upward (LWUP), −1.65/27.63 downward (LWDN), 4.69/26.42 net (LWNR). We found lengths diurnal cycle longer durations between sunrise sunset we proposed increasing day length 1.5 h. accuracies improved after adjusting length. bias/RMSE −4.15/13.74 LWUP, −1.3/27.52 LWDN, 2.85/25.91 LWNR. producing long-term values

متن کاملEstimation of High Spatial-Resolution Clear-Sky Land Surface-Upwelling Longwave Radiation from VIIRS/S-NPP Data
Surface-upwelling longwave radiation (LWUP) is an important component of the surface radiation budget. Under the general framework of the hybrid method, the linear models and the multivariate adaptive regression spline (MARS) models are developed to estimate the 750 m instantaneous clear-sky LWUP from the top-of-atmosphere (TOA) radiance of the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) ...

متن کاملENSO surface longwave radiation forcing over the tropical Pacific
We have studied the spatial and temporal variation of the surface longwave radiation (downwelling and net) over a 21-year period in the tropical and subtropical Pacific Ocean (40 S–40 N, 90 E-75 W). The fluxes were computed using a deterministic model for atmospheric radiation transfer, along with satellite data from the ISCCP-D2 database and reanalysis data from NCEP/NCAR (acronyms explained i...
متن کاملSatellite-based estimates of longwave radiation for agricultural applications
Geostationary satellites provide information that enables frequent, routine and cost-effective estimates of both downwelling longwave radiation and incident solar radiation for use by agricultural and other applications, at a resolution that cannot be practically matched by ground-based measurements. We develop a new parameterization for downwelling longwave radiation at the earth’s surface tha...
